On March 13, Kim Ga-ram opened a YouTube channel titled “garamonly” and uploaded her first video, labeled “ep. 01.”
In the video, she explained why she decided to start the channel. According to Kim Garam, she wanted to share acting clips as well as moments from her daily life. She admitted that filming herself felt unfamiliar, saying she had never done anything like this before but would do her best and hoped viewers would understand.
The video shows simple scenes from her routine. Kim Garam recorded herself practicing acting at home by placing her smartphone on a stand and performing a short self-filmed acting exercise. She also shared clips of herself studying in a school library and playing the guitar, giving viewers a glimpse into her hobbies and everyday activities.
Interest in the channel grew rapidly after the video was posted. Within a day of launching the channel, it surpassed 100,000 subscribers, qualifying for YouTube’s Silver Play Button. As of the morning of March 15, the number had climbed to more than 142,000 subscribers.
Her social media presence has also continued to expand. Kim Garam’s Instagram account has nearly reached one million followers, with the number approaching the milestone shortly after the YouTube channel’s launch.
However, the renewed attention has also brought criticism. Some internet users reacted negatively, leaving comments suggesting that her return to public platforms seemed bold given the controversy surrounding her past. Others pointed out that the incident had left lasting emotional wounds for those involved.
At the same time, there were also voices of support. Some netizens commented that everyone needs a way to make a living, while others argued that it would be a shame for her to disappear from public life entirely. A few users also suggested that the school bullying case may have involved conflicts between students rather than purely one-sided violence, expressing a more sympathetic view.
Kim Ga ram originally debuted with LE SSERAFIM in 2022 but soon faced allegations of school bullying dating back to her middle school years. At the time, a document believed to be from a school violence countermeasures committee surfaced online, stating that she had been recognized as a perpetrator in a school violence case.
According to the document, she received a Level 5 disciplinary action from the committee. This level of measure typically involves mandatory special education programs or psychological counseling conducted by outside experts to guide and rehabilitate the student involved.
As the controversy intensified shortly after her debut, Kim Garam ultimately left LE SSERAFIM, ending her brief career with the group. Now, with the launch of her YouTube channel, public attention is once again focused on whether the former idol intends to pursue activities in the entertainment field again.
