Recently, Chinese actress Wang Tianyu shocked fans after revealing that she suffered a serious accident during her 27th birthday party, leaving her with severe burns on her face. According to the actress, who appeared in the film The Mermaid, the incident happened when she attempted to follow the viral “flaming cake” trend that has been circulating on social media.

Specifically, Wang Tianyu held alcohol in her mouth and blew it toward a birthday cake with lit candles to create a dramatic fire effect. However, the stunt proved extremely dangerous. The flames suddenly spread toward her face, burning her hair and eyelashes. In addition, the lower part of her face and neck reportedly suffered significant injuries.

After the accident, Wang Tianyu immediately went to the hospital for treatment. However, she will likely have to step away from the screen for at least several months while recovering from the burns. According to reports from Sohu, the 1999-born actress may even face the risk of permanent damage to her appearance, which could affect her acting career after the reckless attempt.
Wang Tianyu admitted that she tried the stunt after watching similar videos online. She said: “There were no warnings about the dangers at all. I think people who post such videos just to gain attention while hiding the risks are extremely irresponsible.”

Many viewers reacted with both sympathy and criticism after hearing about her situation. While some expressed concern for the actress, others said the incident should serve as a warning about blindly copying risky trends seen on social media.
Born in 1999, Wang Tianyu entered the entertainment industry in 2016 after appearing in the film The Mermaid. Since then, she has appeared in several other projects, including Sunny Sisters, Four Years of Life, and To Be a Better Girl.
