On the afternoon of March 2, Sports Chosun reported that “Korea’s sexy queen” Lee Hyori had unexpectedly become the center of criticism on Korean social media forums after sharing a new post on her personal Instagram account. In the controversial post, the beauty shared a series of relaxing moments with her beloved dogs, along with the caption: “Do these images make you feel tired and messy? But one day, when I look back, perhaps I will see this as one of the happiest times of my life.”
In particular, the public focused on the fact that nearly a dozen dogs were peacefully sleeping alongside Lee Hyori, even lying all over the couple’s bed. As a result, many netizens harshly criticized the singer, saying she was unhygienic and advising the 1979-born star to think more carefully before posting such photos in order to protect her image. Not stopping there, online “detectives” pointed out that the couple’s bedroom appeared not to have been cleaned for a while, with dog fur scattered everywhere.

Numerous negative comments flooded the post about Lee Hyori’s pets: “Just looking at the photo, you can see dog fur flying everywhere. It looks dirty and unhygienic,” “It’s fine to raise dogs, but shouldn’t you at least keep things looking clean?” and “As a celebrity, shouldn’t she be more careful about what she posts?” among others.
However, alongside the criticism, Lee Hyori also received considerable support and sympathy. Fans emphasized that the K-pop icon simply wanted to share ordinary, intimate moments to blur the line between idol and audience, with no ill intentions, and therefore did not deserve such harsh attacks. Some also noted that anyone who raises and loves dogs could easily see themselves reflected in the images she shared.

In addition, fans revealed that Lee Hyori posted the photos to commemorate a beloved dog that had passed away, and that this meaningful moment should not have been subjected to excessive and malicious scrutiny.
Many supporters spoke up in her defense amid the wave of backlash: “Anyone who has pets knows this is normal,” “Isn’t the important thing that she looks happy?” “It’s rude to judge the state of someone’s home based on a single photo,” “People are overanalyzing this way too much,” and “If these are precious memories with a dog that has passed away, is it really necessary to nitpick like this?”
