Barbie Hsu passed away in Tokyo, Japan, on February 2, 2025, due to pneumonia. Exactly one year after her death, her family organized a ceremony to unveil a commemorative statue in her honor. The statue, designed by her husband Koo Jun-yup, was officially revealed on the anniversary. Upon seeing it, the actress’s mother was deeply moved, immediately embracing her son-in-law and breaking down in tears as she comforted him.
Despite heavy rain, many artists and close friends attended the ceremony to pay their respects. However, the absence of Barbie Hsu’s two children drew particular attention and sparked speculation among the public.

In response to growing curiosity, Mandy, the current wife of Wang Xiaofei, addressed the issue during a recent livestream. According to her, the two children are currently spending their winter break in Beijing. When asked who was taking care of them, Mandy explained, “My husband and my mother-in-law are looking after them. Aunt Yang, their nanny, is also here. My mother-in-law is elderly and cannot take care of them all day.”
Back in March 2025, Mandy had already faced criticism for not bringing the children to Barbie Hsu’s burial. At the time, she explained that her family had not received any notification about the funeral. She said they only learned that the burial took place on March 15, 2025, through news reports on social media. Mandy emphasized that the children need to maintain a normal life and that taking them out as usual was reasonable. She also urged the public not to blindly believe everything online, noting that outsiders cannot fully understand the realities of other people’s lives.

On March 15, 2025, Barbie Hsu’s burial was held at Jinbaoshan Cemetery in Jinshan, New Taipei City, Taiwan. Her two children with ex-husband Wang Xiaofei were not present. On the same day, Mandy posted photos on her personal social media showing handmade crafts created by Wang Xiaofei’s children, further reinforcing public belief that the children had not attended their mother’s burial.
The repeated absence of Barbie Hsu’s children from both the burial and the first anniversary memorial has continued to draw public attention, making it a subject of ongoing discussion.
