Biography

Sohee is a South Korean singer and performer. He is best known as a main vocalist of the South Korean boy band RIIZE, formed and managed by SM Entertainment. Sohee debuted with the group in 2023 and has since gained recognition for his powerful vocal ability, charismatic stage presence, and contributions to RIIZE’s musical identity.

Early Life and Education

Lee So-hee was born on November 21, 2003 in Siheung, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. Growing up, he demonstrated an early passion for music and performance, particularly vocal expression. Sohee’s interest in singing began to develop more seriously during his middle and high school years. He later attended Siheung Neunggok Middle School and Siheung Neunggok High School, where he completed his secondary education while continuing to cultivate his singing skills.

While the specific details of his early involvement in music prior to joining the entertainment industry are limited, it is known that Sohee began to pursue his musical ambitions more actively while living in Siheung, which eventually led to his recruitment by SM Entertainment.

Career

Pre-Debut and Training

Sohee joined SM Entertainment as a trainee prior to his official debut. During his trainee period, he focused on refining his vocal technique, performance skills, and stage presence in preparation for debuting as an idol under one of South Korea’s leading entertainment companies.

Debut with RIIZE (2023–Present)

On August 1, 2023, Sohee was officially announced as a member of RIIZE, SM Entertainment’s new boy group. According to the company’s announcement, he was recognized for his outstanding singing ability, marking him as one of the group’s key vocalists.

RIIZE debuted on September 4, 2023, with the single album Get A Guitar, which introduced the group’s emotional-pop sound and featured strong vocal performances from Sohee and his bandmates. Since debut, Sohee has established himself as the group’s main vocalist, contributing significantly to their musical output and live performances.

In January 2024, Sohee expanded his public profile by being announced as one of the permanent MCs for the music program M Countdown, alongside Hanbin of ZEROBASEONE and Jaehyun of BOYNEXTDOOR. His role as an MC further showcased his versatility and growing presence in the broader K-pop entertainment sphere.

Fun Facts

  1. During high school, Sohee struggled to decide on a clear career path. Rather than having a fixed dream from the beginning, he reflected on what he genuinely enjoyed most music.
  2. In September 2019, Sohee performed on stage for the first time at his school festival. He sang in front of his classmates, seniors, and juniors, many of whom cheered enthusiastically during his performance.
  3. In January 2020, he passed an audition for SM Entertainment through the Ansan People Practical Music Academy and officially joined the company as a trainee. However, after a short period of training, he felt that the path did not suit him at the time and decided to leave the company.
  4. Beginning in May 2020, cover videos featuring his singing were once again uploaded to the practical music academy’s social media accounts.
  5. During his university entrance examinations, SM Entertainment staff recognized Sohee and proposed that he rejoin the company, leading him to begin trainee life once again.
  6. In later interviews, including INSERTLIVE, Sohee stated that he trained for approximately one and a half years after rejoining SM Entertainment.
