On the evening of January 11 (local time), the 83rd Golden Globe Awards ceremony was held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California. Lee Byung Hun had been nominated in the category of Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy, but the award ultimately went to Timothée Chalamet for his performance in Marty Supreme.

Lee’s nomination stemmed from his leading role in the film No Other Choice, directed by renowned filmmaker Park Chan Wook. The movie tells the story of a man who, despite believing he had achieved everything he wanted in life, is suddenly laid off from his stable corporate job. Faced with protecting his family — including his wife and two children — and holding onto the home he worked so hard to buy, he sets out on a personal battle for reemployment and dignity.
Although Lee did not walk away with the award, his nomination alone was a significant milestone for Korean cinema, showcasing the growing global presence and recognition of Korean actors in Hollywood’s top-tier events.
