A Chinese influencer with more than 3 million followers has become the center of intense online controversy after rumors surfaced alleging that the creator is HIV-positive, following a recent livestream that sparked widespread speculation.
The influencer, who rose to fame through cross-dressing content and is widely known for presenting a feminine persona online despite being biologically male, was “caught” by viewers when a bottle resembling antiretroviral medication appeared on the table during a livestream. Screenshots quickly circulated across social media, triggering heated discussions and unverified claims.
In response, the influencer took to Weibo to firmly deny the allegations, stating, “You people are really going too far. The rumors are completely baseless. I don’t even know what that item is. Is this really necessary?”
To counter the claims, the influencer shared digital copies of hospital test results showing negative results for both HIV and syphilis. However, skepticism persisted among some netizens, who questioned the authenticity of the documents and suggested the reports may have been digitally altered. The influencer later stated that physical copies of the test results would be released, but no further updates have been made as of now.
Adding fuel to the controversy, past remarks from fellow influencer Xiao Huangdou resurfaced online. During a joint livestream in 2025, Xiao Huangdou made graphic comments about the influencer’s back being covered in raised, barnacle-like bumps, describing the scene as so dense that “it looked like ants were crawling all over.” The comments, initially brushed off as crude jokes, have since been reinterpreted by some netizens amid the current rumors.
At the time, the influencer was even mockingly advised to use body lotion, while others jokingly speculated about sexually transmitted diseases. These remarks, once dismissed as exaggerated banter, have now been repeatedly cited as “evidence” by online users reigniting the scandal.
Despite the viral speculation, no official confirmation from medical authorities or platforms has supported the HIV claims. Observers have pointed out that antiretroviral medications can be prescribed for purposes other than HIV treatment, including preventive use, and warn against drawing conclusions from unverified images.
The incident has reignited debate about online rumor culture, privacy violations, and the ethical responsibility of audiences when discussing health-related accusations. As the situation continues to unfold, the influencer remains under intense public scrutiny, with supporters calling for restraint and critics demanding further clarification.
At present, the allegations remain unproven, and the influencer has maintained a firm denial amid growing online backlash.
