On January 1, a video titled “Bowing Is Just an Excuse” was uploaded to the YouTube channel DdeunDdeun. The episode of Pinggyego featured actors Ahn Eun Jin, Lee Sang Yi, and Kim Sung Cheol classmates from Korea National University of Arts’ famed 2010 class who appeared as guests and shared stories from their college days.

During the conversation, Lee Sang Yi recalled a serious incident from last year in which he collapsed while filming a drama, injured his face, and ultimately required plastic surgery. Hearing this, Yoo Jae Suk chimed in with his own experience, saying, “I also once fell while filming Running Man. I didn’t even need to go that far, but I got carried away and overexcited, and I ended up falling from there.”

The production team added context through on-screen captions, explaining that the accident occurred during a game when Yoo Jae Suk became energized by a BTS song, started dancing enthusiastically, slipped, and fell off the game apparatus.

Yoo Jae Suk went on to describe the unfortunate details of the fall. “My luck was really bad,” he said. “As I fell, my knee hit my glasses. The frame split the skin above my eyebrow, and it tore open. Blood just started pouring out.” He added that he initially went to the emergency room, but was advised that stitching the wound there could leave a noticeable scar. “So I came back to Seoul and went to a plastic surgery clinic to get it stitched instead,” he explained.

Lee Sang Yi asked whether Yoo Jae Suk had injured his eyebrow, to which he clarified that the cut was just above it. Lee Sang Yi then shared an unexpected aftereffect of his own injury, saying that after damaging his eyebrow, under-eye area, and philtrum, hair no longer grows properly in his eyebrow due to the scar. Yoo Jae Suk and Ahn Eun Jin reacted in surprise, saying it looked fine to them.

Lee Sang Yi laughed it off, explaining that he had filled it in that day. At that moment, Kim Sung Cheol jokingly asked why Lee Sang Yi’s eyes looked so lifted, causing laughter on set. Lee Sang Yi playfully scolded him for missing the point, while Ahn Eun Jin wrapped things up warmly by reassuring him that he still looked great.

The lighthearted exchange gave viewers a rare glimpse into the real-life mishaps behind variety and drama productions.
