Scheduled to premiere on January 17, 2026, tvN’s new weekend drama Undercover Miss Hong is a retro office comedy set in the end-of-the-century 1990s. Written by Moon Hyun-kyung and directed by Park Seon-ho, the series follows Hong Geum-bo (played by Park Shin-hye), a sharp and elite financial supervisor in her 30s who goes undercover as a 20-year-old entry-level employee at a securities firm after suspicious financial activity is detected.
The drama has already generated strong anticipation thanks to the collaboration between Park Shin-hye widely regarded as a reliable box-office draw and tvN. The cast also includes Go Kyung-pyo, Ha Yoon-kyung, and Cho Han-gyeol, promising strong ensemble chemistry. Adding to expectations is director Park Seon-ho, known for hits such as Wok of Love, Business Proposal, and Suspicious Partner, who is set to bring a fresh twist to the retro office comedy genre.

Explaining her decision to take on the role, Park Shin-hye said she was drawn to the project because it explores a period she had never portrayed before. She noted that the story felt especially compelling as it is set in an era when women’s social and professional success was far from guaranteed. “The idea that Hong Geum-bo, an ace at the Financial Supervisory Service, disguises herself as a low-ranking employee really struck me as intriguing and charming,” she said.
Park Shin-hye also expressed affection for her character, describing Hong Geum-bo as honest and persistent, someone who survived intense competition through sheer determination. She added that despite the patriarchal social atmosphere of the time, Geum-bo never shrinks back, instead pushing forward confidently and proving her abilities qualities she sees as the character’s greatest charm.

Another major highlight, according to Park Shin-hye, lies in the relationships between the characters. She emphasized that the dynamics among the Financial Supervisory Service members, the crisis management team at Hanmin Securities, and especially the four roommates living in Dorm Room 301, will be a key source of entertainment for viewers. She concluded by encouraging audiences to look forward to seeing whether Geum-bo can successfully complete her nerve-wracking undercover mission and what fate awaits Hanmin Securities.
Starring Park Shin-hye, tvN’s new weekend drama Undercover Miss Hong will premiere on January 17, 2026, at 9:10 p.m., further cementing her status as a trusted leading actress with a strong track record of hits.
