The December 24 broadcast of MBC’s variety show Radio Star aired as a Christmas special titled “With Excitement and Holiday Cheer,” featuring guests Nam Jin, Seol Woon Do, Jadu, and Oh My Girl’s Seunghee. The episode was filled with candid talk and humorous exchanges, particularly surrounding Seol Woon Do’s long-standing career and evolving musical philosophy.
Celebrating his 44th year since debut, Seol Woon Do revealed that he is currently enjoying a second golden era as a composer. “K-pop is loved all over the world right now,” he shared. “There’s no reason K-trot can’t be globally loved as well. I wanted to try making music that reflects the times.”

Having already proven his composing power with Lim Young Woong’s hit My Starry Love, which surpassed 70 million views, Seol Woon Do has continued to provide songs to younger artists such as Jeong Dong Won, Enoch, Choi Jin Hee, and MyJin. Fellow guest Nam Jin even chimed in, joking, “I asked him for a song too, but he hasn’t given it to me yet,” drawing laughter from the studio.
The most talked-about moment came when Seol Woon Do mentioned Rosé’s hit song APT.. He admitted, “Honestly, I had some complaints about that song,” before explaining his reasoning. “I really like Yoon Soo Il’s Apartment, and we sang it a lot back then. But times have changed. This isn’t the era of apartments anymore—it’s the era of officetels.”
Elaborating further, he said, “There are so many single people these days. Economically and lifestyle-wise, officetels make more sense for them. Do you know how many single people there are in Korea?” Seol Woon Do added that constantly singing about apartments limits musical growth, prompting him to reflect modern lifestyles in his work.
He revealed that he recently gave a new song titled Officetel to his son, confidently claiming, “Single people across the country went crazy for it. This is a song made for us.” MC Kim Gura reacted with amusement, saying, “You’re really quick on your feet,” after learning the song came out later than Rosé’s APT..

However, the studio erupted in laughter when Kim Gook Jin bluntly asked, “If it caused such a stir, why don’t we know about it?” The humor peaked when Seol Woon Do was asked to sing a line from Officetel, only to admit he couldn’t remember the lyrics himself.
Though his comments were clearly tongue-in-cheek, Seol Woon Do’s remarks offered a generational perspective on changing lifestyles and music themes—proving that even a global hit like APT. can inspire playful debate across generations.
