Kristin Cabot, the former Chief Human Resources Officer of tech firm Astronomer, has publicly addressed the viral scandal that forced her resignation, nearly six months after a video captured her in an intimate moment with her boss at a Coldplay concert.

In an interview published on December 18 by The New York Times, Cabot recounted how the incident—caught on a so-called “kiss cam” during the July event—spiraled into a social media firestorm that disrupted her life and cost her a high-profile career.

“I made a bad decision,” Cabot admitted. “I drank a few cans of High Noon, danced, and acted inappropriately with my boss. And that’s not a small thing. I took responsibility and chose to walk away from my career because of it. That was the price I chose to pay.”

The video, which showed Cabot and her then-boss embracing romantically on a balcony before quickly shielding their faces from the camera, quickly went viral, amassing millions of views and sparking widespread commentary.

But the fallout extended beyond professional consequences. Cabot revealed that she has received death threats since the video surfaced. “I want my kids to know that people can make mistakes, even big ones. But being threatened with death is not something anyone should have to accept,” she said, noting the emotional toll it’s taken on her family.

At the time of the incident, Cabot had recently separated from her husband. Though they maintained contact briefly, they have had minimal communication since September. “Continuing to talk made it harder for anyone to move forward and heal,” she explained.

Now, nearly half a year later, Cabot is focused on rebuilding her life—including searching for new employment opportunities. The former executive said she hopes speaking out will clarify misconceptions and humanize the real-life consequences behind the viral moment.
