On December 14, a clip from Netflix’s Simon Cowell: The Next Act began trending across social media. The short video features Cruz, a member of the newly formed group December 10, making a scathing comment about BTS, the world-renowned K-Pop group.
In the clip, Cruz belittles BTS’s record-breaking performance at Wembley Stadium and declares, “If BTS can sell out Wembley Stadium in flipping five minutes, we could sell out Pluto in five minutes. Another planet. Nah, I’m serious. They’re terrible.”

This statement was met with swift and intense backlash from fans, especially BTS’s global fandom, ARMY. Many called the comments disrespectful and accused the group of trying to stir up attention through controversy rather than talent.
December 10 is a seven-member group consisting of Cruz (19), Danny (16), Hendrick (19), John (17), Josh (17), Nicolas (16), and Sean (19). As of now, the group has not released any official music.
Social media erupted with heated debates, with some netizens accusing the group of using BTS’s name to gain traction. Others criticized the tone of the remarks, suggesting that targeting an established group before even debuting is a risky—and disrespectful—move.

As the backlash continues, many are questioning whether December 10’s marketing strategy is courting controversy for virality, or if the remarks were simply out of line.
With the group’s debut still ahead, all eyes are now on how they and their management will respond to the mounting criticism.
