Actor Cha Tae-hyun openly addressed his long-circulating “attitude controversy,” offering a candid self-assessment during his appearance on the YouTube channel Fairy Jaehyung on December 7.

The episode, titled “Is Suchan Really Okay?”, featured Cha Tae-hyun as a guest, where he spoke about his personality, career, and growing responsibilities. Since launching a new agency with actor Jo In-sung in April, he has been juggling the dual roles of actor and company CEO.

Reflecting on his leadership role, Cha Tae-hyun admitted, “I wasn’t the type of person who met a lot of people in the past. But now, as a representative, I just meet whoever I need to meet.”

Host Jung Jae-hyung then brought up an old rumor that followed Cha Tae-hyun early in his career. “When you debuted, there were rumors that you had no manners,” he said.

Cha Tae-hyun didn’t deny it. “There were a lot of those rumors, ” he acknowledged calmly. “People said I never changed—that I was rude from the beginning until now. But honestly, I’ve become much more human.”

Jung Jae-hyung praised Cha Tae-hyun’s straightforward personality, recalling their time working together on the variety show Two Yoo Project – Sugar Man. “It was great working with him. Tae-hyun throws things directly—straight pitches—but he never says anything to hurt someone’s feelings.”

Cha Tae-hyun admitted that he was even more blunt when he was younger. “I used to speak very directly. No matter what people said, I didn’t care. But as I got older, I naturally became more careful.”

Jung Jae-hyung added that Cha Tae-hyun’s change was noticeable during programs featuring younger cast members. “You could tell you were being extra considerate, especially when the cast included kids,” he said.

Cha Tae-hyun’s down-to-earth reflection on his past image—and his acknowledgment of personal growth—has resonated with viewers, further reaffirming his reputation as one of Korea’s most relatable and self-aware stars.
