Actor Lee Jun Ho recently revealed how his current life parallels his role as Kang Tae Poong in Typhoon Family. In an interview held on December 2 at a café in Seongdong-gu, Seoul, the Typhoon Family star reflected on his journey both on and off screen.

This year, Lee made headlines after parting ways with JYP Entertainment, his agency of 18 years, to launch his own one-man label, O3 Collective. “There are many similarities between my situation and Tae Poong’s. Becoming a CEO brought challenges that I could personally relate to,” he explained. “Even after nearly two decades of activity, I had a desire to explore something new, and that feeling translated directly into my performance.”

Lee spoke candidly about leaving JYP. “JYP was truly a great company. They supported me a lot even as I left, giving me advice like ‘Doing it this way will help you.’ It felt like becoming independent from supportive parents,” he shared. “I learned so much there.”

He acknowledged that, although he was aware of real-world challenges during his time at JYP, experiencing them firsthand after stepping out on his own was an entirely different matter. “It’s still a learning process for me,” he added.

Though currently operating a one-man agency, Lee also expressed his ambition to sign multi-talented entertainers in the future. “I sing, act, and compose I’m someone who enjoys doing many things,” he said. “If I meet artists who share that mindset, I’d love to work with them.”

As for the reason behind this independent leap, he stated, “I wanted to take responsibility and manage my own career. I’ve always had a sense of responsibility, but now I wanted to feel it more directly and continue to learn through this experience.”

Typhoon Family tells the story of Kang Tae Poong (played by Lee Jun Ho), who becomes the CEO of a failing trading company during the 1997 IMF financial crisis with no employees, no capital, and nothing to sell. The series concluded on November 30 with a nationwide rating of 10.3%, its highest ever.
