According to Hankyung.com on December 2, Kim Ye-rim has been cast in the lead role of Anna in Azure Spring, sparking high anticipation over how she will portray this powerful character.
Azure Spring tells the heartfelt story of Deok-hyun, a man stuck in the past, and Anna, a job-seeking young woman paralyzed by fear of the future. The two become a haenyeo (female diver) and haenam (male diver), diving into the ocean with nothing but their bare bodies. Through the sea, they rediscover the meaning of life, awaken their frozen hearts, and learn to live once again with their forgotten neighbors. The warm human drama is based on a popular webtoon by writer Jung Deok-hyun and is being produced with the support of the Korea Creative Content Agency thanks to its solid script.
Anna, the character played by Kim Ye-rim, is a former national youth athlete whose dreams collapse after a career-ending injury. She returns to her mother’s hometown, where she meets the mysterious Deok-hyun and embarks on a new journey of healing and self-discovery.
Kim Ye-rim debuted in 2015 as a member of the girl group Red Velvet under the stage name Yeri. While she originally gained fame as an idol, she began using her birth name for her acting career, earning praise for her performances in projects such as Bitch x Rich. This year, she made her big-screen debut with the horror film The Ghost Game, proving her range and star potential.
