South Korean actress Lee Joo-bin made headlines after revealing her actual height during an appearance on the YouTube show “Life 84” ( 인생84 ) hosted by webtoon artist Kian84.
Though her official profile lists her at 163cm , Lee candidly admitted on the November 25th episode that her real height is 161cm . The reason? The competitive modeling industry. “Back when I did fitting and wedding modeling, most of the models were at least 170cm tall. They wouldn’t cast short models, so I listed myself as 163,” she explained.
Kian84 initially thought she was much taller. “When I saw your photos, I assumed you were about 174cm,” he commented, surprised by how Lee’s small face and proportions enhanced her visual height. To this, he added admiringly, “You broke that height barrier with your proportions.”
Lee humbly responded, “Thankfully, when the industry shifted to favoring shorter models, I got cast a lot more.”
Aside from modeling, Lee also discussed her path to acting. She revealed she briefly trained under the pre-debut lineup of girl group Rainbow during high school. “I wasn’t dying to be a celebrity at the time,” she shared. “It was more about skipping school in the afternoon and getting to go to the agency. One thing led to another, and I ended up spending 10 years in this field.”
