South Korean actress Yoo Ha-na, best known for her role as Xia Zhixing in the 2007 hit drama My Lucky Star, has sparked controversy after sharing a video on Douyin, where fans noticed a striking change in her appearance.

The 1986-born actress, who retired from showbiz years ago, opened a Douyin account on November 19, to greet Chinese fans. In the video, her current looks appeared dramatically different from her original image in the drama, prompting widespread speculation about plastic surgery.

Journalists from 163 commented, “It’s not just a small change. Yoo Ha-na looks completely unrecognizable. From her facial features to her aura, she seems like a different person. This cannot be explained by natural aging alone.”

Fans across China flooded her Douyin account with questions about whether she had undergone cosmetic procedures. Many noted that her current facial features are stiff and unnatural, raising suspicions of multiple surgeries. Despite this, Yoo Ha-na calmly denied the rumors, stating, “I haven’t changed since then. This is just a different aspect of me. As children grow up, they experience many changes.”
Yoo Ha-na began her career as a model for magazines and a Korean airline before landing her breakthrough role in My Lucky Star, thanks to Taiwanese producer Chen Yung-san discovering her magazine photos in 2006. After the show’s success across Asia, she briefly acted in Taiwan, including starring in a Jay Chou music video, before returning to Korea to be near her family. She starred in notable Korean dramas such as My Too Perfect Sons and First Wives’ Club.
In 2011, Yoo Ha-na married baseball player Lee Yong-kyu and retired from the entertainment industry at 25 to focus on family life. She has two sons, born in 2013 and 2019.
Despite her denial, netizens continue to speculate about her alleged cosmetic procedures, noting the drastic differences compared to her original image from 18 years ago. The debate around Yoo Ha-na’s transformation highlights ongoing public fascination with the appearances of retired celebrities who return to social media.
