SPOTV News reported on November 20 that former April member and actress Yoon Chae-kyung and ex-national badminton player Lee Yong-dae have been in a relationship for a year, nurturing a serious romance despite their eight-year age gap.
Sources close to the pair have revealed that they are serious about each other and openly introduce each other as partners.

Lee Yong-dae previously married actress Byun Soo-mi in 2017 after a six-year relationship. However, the couple divorced in 2018 due to personality differences. Since then, Lee Yong-dae has been raising his daughter as a single father, making his relationship with Yoon Chae-kyung both careful and heartfelt.
Interestingly, Yoon Chae-kyung’s admiration for Lee Yong-dae dates back nearly a decade. In 2016, during her activities with the project girl group I.B.I, she publicly expressed her admiration for Lee Yong-dae while discussing the Rio Olympics. She described his skillful badminton plays as “truly impressive,” revealing a long-standing fan interest that eventually blossomed into romance.
Yoon Chae-kyung debuted in 2012 as a member of Purity and later gained public recognition through Kara Project (2014) and Mnet Produce 101 (2016). She also formed the project girl group I.B.I and appeared in C.I.V.A on Music of the Gods 2. Yoon Chae-kyung later joined April, achieving hits like “The Story of Spring Country” and “Pretty Girl is a Sin”, gaining both domestic and international fans. After April disbanded in 2022, she has pursued acting, appearing in dramas and films including “Time To Be Together 1:11”, “Korea–Khitan War”, and “Confidence Man KR”.

Lee Yong-dae is a decorated badminton national athlete, winning medals at the 2008 Beijing Olympics (mixed doubles gold), 2012 London Olympics (men’s doubles bronze), and the 2014 Incheon Asian Games (team gold and men’s doubles silver). He currently serves as a playing coach for the Yonex Badminton Team and participates in broadcasting shows like My Ugly Duckling and Racket Boys. He is also set to appear in the upcoming show Spike War on November 20.
Their story is an inspiring example of finding love after personal hardships, blending the worlds of entertainment and sports in a narrative that fans have embraced warmly.
