On October 27, SM Entertainment unveiled a poster for EXO‘s fan meeting titled EXO’verse, scheduled for December 13 and 14 at Inspire Arena in Incheon. The event was meant to mark the group’s first major reunion after completing their military service, with fans expecting a full OT9 lineup. However, the official participant list left many disappointed.

What shocked fans was the absence of EXO-CBX members—Chen, Baekhyun, and Xiumin—despite the surprise inclusion of Lay, the Chinese member who had previously departed SM Entertainment in 2022. This unexpected composition has sparked significant backlash among fans, with many expressing confusion and frustration across social media platforms.

According to SM Entertainment, only Suho, Chanyeol, D.O., Kai, Sehun, and Lay will be involved in the fan meeting and the upcoming 8th full-length album slated for Q1 2026. The CBX trio’s omission stems from their ongoing legal battle with SM Entertainment regarding profit settlements and contract enforcement.

EXO’s last group activity dates back to their 2023 album EXIST, making this return especially meaningful. Yet, the tension surrounding the internal conflict has cast a shadow over what was supposed to be a celebratory reunion. Many fans hoped that the fan meeting would symbolize unity, but the current situation has led to a wave of disappointment and debates.

Adding fuel to the fire, Lay’s participation—despite having officially parted ways with SM—has left fans puzzled. Some speculate it’s a strategic move, while others argue it highlights deeper internal divisions within the group and agency.

Meanwhile, SM announced that ticket presales for fan club members will begin on October 30, followed by general sales on October 31 via Melon Ticket. An online stream will also be available through Beyond Live and Weverse, with details to follow.

Despite the backlash, EXO plans to perform their winter classic The First Snow and unveil new tracks from their upcoming album during the event, aiming to rekindle their connection with fans. Still, many are left questioning the group’s future dynamics and the true status of EXO-CBX.

As this fan meeting draws near, it remains uncertain whether EXO will manage to restore unity or whether these internal rifts will continue to overshadow their long-awaited comeback.
