Actor Lee Yi-kyung (36) has once again found himself at the center of a heated scandal after a netizen claiming to be a German woman resurfaced online with allegations of explicit conversations involving the actor. While Lee has firmly denied all claims as “completely false,” the situation has spiraled, drawing a flood of malicious comments and reigniting a broader debate over false accusations and cyber harassment.

The controversy began when an anonymous user, identified as A, uploaded a blog post titled “Exposing the Real Lee Yi-kyung.” The post contained screenshots of alleged sexual messages, purportedly exchanged with the actor via KakaoTalk and Instagram. The messages appeared to show Lee using vulgar language, making sexual jokes, and requesting photos, leading to shock and outrage across social media. Though the post was quickly deleted, screenshots spread rapidly across online communities, triggering a second wave of controversy.

On October 20, Lee Yi-kyung’s agency Sangyoung ENT swiftly issued a statement clarifying, “All content circulating online about Lee Yi-kyung’s private life is entirely false.” The agency further revealed that the same person had contacted them months earlier with similar fabricated claims, demanding money and threatening exposure. “The individual admitted the statements were false and even sent an apology email,” the agency said, emphasizing that the recent posts were simply a repetition of those baseless allegations.

The following day, as the story gained traction, Sangyoung ENT announced it was preparing legal action for defamation and the spread of false information: “We are assessing the direct and indirect damages caused by these malicious rumors and will take all necessary measures. The indiscriminate posting and sharing of such content are also subject to legal responsibility.”

Despite the agency’s firm stance, Lee’s personal social media accounts were inundated with comments ranging from harsh criticism to expressions of support. Messages such as “If it’s true, that’s disgusting,” “So disappointing,” and “This ruins your image” flooded his Instagram posts. Others defended him, writing, “It hasn’t been proven yet stop spreading hate,” and “I’ll stay neutral until facts are confirmed.”

Meanwhile, A returned to her blog to address the claims that she had asked Lee Yi-kyung for money. “I once asked, ‘Can you give me some money?’ because of personal financial issues,” she admitted, “but I never received any money.” She added that her recent post “wasn’t for money, but to prevent other women from going through the same thing.” Attempting to justify her awkward phrasing, she explained, “I’ve been self-studying Korean for eight years and never took lessons. I’m not a scammer I’m really German.”

However, Lee Yi-kyung’s agency insists this individual’s credibility is deeply compromised, pointing to her previous confession of spreading falsehoods. Industry insiders have also cautioned against premature judgments, stressing that “given Lee Yi-kyung’s long-standing career in dramas and variety shows, speculation should be avoided until verifiable evidence emerges.”

The actor’s representatives have confirmed that they will move forward with strong legal measures to protect him from defamation and the continued spread of fabricated claims. As the case unfolds, the Korean entertainment industry is closely watching whether this incident will mark a turning point in how malicious online rumors and repeated false allegations are addressed.
