The filming for tvN’s weekend drama Typhoon Family, starring Lee Jun-ho, is set to officially conclude on October 20, according to an exclusive report by IZE on the 17th.

Typhoon Family follows the story of Kang Tae-pung (played by Lee Jun-ho), a rookie salaryman who unexpectedly becomes the president of a struggling trading company during the 1997 IMF crisis — with no money, no employees, and nothing left to sell.

The series premiered on October 11 and immediately captured viewers’ attention with its strong performances, emotional storytelling, and nostalgic portrayal of late-90s South Korea.

Following its debut, the drama recorded impressive ratings — 5.9% for episode 1 and 6.8% for episode 2, according to Nielsen Korea. The first episode’s viewership marked the highest-rated premiere among tvN dramas in 2025, surpassing Bon Appétit, Your Majesty which opened at 4.9%.

The drama stars Kim Min-ha, Kim Min-seok, Kwon Han-sol, Lee Chang-hoon, Kim Jae-hwa, Kim Song-il, Lee Sang-jin, Kim Sang-ho, and Moo Jin-sung, all of whom have received praise for their authentic and emotionally resonant performances.

After months of production that began earlier this year, Typhoon Family will wrap filming for all 16 episodes on October 20.

According to insiders, the production team has issued a strict non-disclosure order to the cast and crew to prevent spoilers, as the story has just begun to unfold on air.

Producers will now focus entirely on post-production and editing to deliver an even more engaging viewing experience in the coming episodes.

A representative from the crew shared, “We’re grateful for the strong response from viewers since the premiere. The team is working hard to ensure the rest of the series maintains the same emotional impact and excitement.”

Typhoon Family has quickly become a must-watch weekend drama for Korean audiences, with viewers praising its mix of heartfelt storytelling, nostalgia, and Lee Jun-ho’s nuanced portrayal of an everyman hero navigating economic hardship and personal growth.

As the series moves into its later half, all eyes are on how Kang Tae-pung’s story will unfold — and whether Typhoon Family will continue its upward ratings momentum.
