Fans of Hunter x Hunter have reason to celebrate — series creator Yoshihiro Togashi has officially shared a promising update about the beloved manga’s long-awaited return.

The legendary series, which first debuted in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1998, has remained one of the most acclaimed works in anime and manga history, praised for its intricate power system and masterful worldbuilding. However, due to Togashi’s ongoing health challenges, Hunter x Hunter has faced frequent and lengthy hiatuses since 2006, allowing the author to continue at a sustainable pace.
Currently, the story remains in the Succession Contest arc, which began with Chapter 340 in 2012. Despite the arc’s complexity and extended development, Togashi has continued to work steadily on it. The series last released ten consecutive chapters from October to December 2024, ending at Chapter 410 before going on another hiatus.
In his most recent post on X (formerly Twitter), Togashi revealed uplifting progress: “I’ve completed the dialogue for Chapter 420. That makes ten full chapters with dialogue finished. I’m now moving forward with the manuscript stages.”
Earlier this month, he also confirmed that background sketches and settings for the upcoming chapters had been finalized — suggesting that the next batch of ten chapters is well underway.
Although an official release date has not yet been announced, Togashi’s consistent updates have reignited optimism among fans who have been waiting to see the series continue. The Succession Contest arc is currently reaching a critical phase, following the intense developments in Chapter 410 involving the royal power struggle and Prince Benjamin’s growing dominance.
Adding to the excitement, Togashi previously shared in December 2024 that he had already mapped out dialogue and storyboards for 50 future chapters, giving hope for a more continuous release schedule ahead. The most recent collected volume, Hunter x Hunter Volume 38 (Chapters 391–400), was released in Japan on September 4, 2024, nearly two years after Volume 37.
With Togashi’s creative updates becoming more frequent, many believe the world of Hunter x Hunter is finally on its way back — stronger and more captivating than ever.
