Babymonster, YG Entertainment’s newest girl group, has officially made their comeback with their second mini album We Go Up. Yet, what should have been a moment of celebration has instead turned into a wave of fan frustration and criticism directed at the group’s management.

The comeback was initially announced on August 18 via Babymonster’s official YouTube channel, with a planned release date of October 1. However, the date was later pushed back to October 10 to avoid overlapping with Korea’s Chuseok holiday. From the announcement until now, fans have pointed out a significant lack of promotional activities.

After the album poster was revealed on September 12, YG only posted individual teaser photos on September 25 and a single group poster on October 1. What drew even more criticism was the fact that this group poster was the only visual to feature all seven members. The rest of the content focused on abstract logos and graphics, with no sign of a music video teaser or sample of the title track — both of which are typically considered essential in generating pre-release buzz.

Many fans believe that YG is treating the group with indifference. Some claim the company reused outdated visuals, while others suspect that the group’s latest poster design may have been recycled from another YG artist’s artwork.

This apparent lack of investment has sparked fears that We Go Up will be overshadowed, especially in a competitive comeback season like October. As a rookie group still solidifying their identity, Babymonster’s limited exposure could hinder their growth in the fiercely competitive K-pop landscape.

Further adding to the controversy is the placement of member Ahyeon in the D‑DAY poster. Despite being widely considered the group’s center, she was positioned toward the edge of the image. This move sparked immediate backlash from fans accusing YG of sidelining her and minimizing her role in the comeback.

Meanwhile, member Rami, who has been on hiatus due to health concerns since May 2025, remains absent. During a recent fan signing event, member Pharita updated fans, saying that Rami is “still not fully well but is in the process of recovery.”

Despite the marketing mishaps, fans continue to praise Babymonster’s vocal performance and music. There’s hope among the fandom that the group’s talent will shine through — but the situation has reignited long-standing concerns about how YG handles the promotions of their newer artists.
