On September 11, Chinese actor Yu Menglong tragically passed away at the age of 37 after falling from a height. Although authorities quickly ruled out foul play, an alleged autopsy report, viral videos, and netizen investigations have cast a shadow over the official narrative, fueling widespread suspicion.

According to initial reports, Yu had attended a gathering at a friend’s home with over ten guests. His mother later stated that Yu’s fatal fall occurred after alcohol consumption. However, leaked screenshots of a purported autopsy report — allegedly commissioned by the Jiatai Police Station and carried out by the Beijing Shengtang Forensic Appraisal Center — suggest a much more violent end.

The alleged report describes multiple traumatic injuries inconsistent with a typical fall. These include signs of scalp trauma potentially caused by pulling, a broken nose, complete loss of lower teeth (except one), a 3cm cut inside his lower lip, and a 7.5cm laceration elsewhere on his body. More disturbingly, it mentions internal bleeding, liver lacerations, fluid around the heart, and genital injuries, reportedly consistent with signs of sexual assault.

While the autopsy report has not been officially verified, comparisons to a 2012 document — with nearly identical formatting and text — have prompted accusations of forgery or cover-up. This has only intensified public demand for transparency regarding Yu’s true cause of death.

Online, netizens have dissected every piece of available evidence. A viral video allegedly depicting Yu being dragged by his ankles circulated widely before it was debunked. Internet users pointed out that the scene appeared staged, likely part of a horror-themed escape room. The “victim” in the video was seen clapping, and the supposed assailants wore costumes, further casting doubt on its authenticity.
“Now everything is so mixed up. Seriously, who tortures someone and films it? This video went viral to prove it’s fake,” said user @moon ki95 on X, explaining the context of the video that had been misunderstood by many.
Despite police assertions that no crime was committed, the speed of the investigation and the contradictions in unofficial documents have left many unconvinced. Some online users have gone so far as to accuse fellow actors Fan Shiqi and Song Yiren, as well as Yu’s management agency, of potential involvement — although no credible evidence has emerged to support these claims.
As calls grow louder for the full official autopsy to be made public, Yu Menglong’s tragic death remains clouded in controversy, and the case continues to draw national attention amid ongoing public skepticism.
