A 23-year-old Chinese international student has triggered a firestorm across social media platforms after posting photos of her father online and urging netizens to insult him. Shockingly, she even offered to send nude images of herself as a “reward” for those who participated.
The young woman, who previously studied abroad in Australia and Spain, had been financially supported by her father for years. Despite their modest means and her parents’ divorce, her father made numerous sacrifices to provide her with international education opportunities only to be vilified by his own daughter.
From Privileged Student to Public Scandal
Chinese media reports reveal that she first went to Melbourne in 2016 but dropped out after just one semester, later returning to China to complete high school. In 2019, she was sent to Spain to study language, again funded by her father in hopes of helping her rebuild her future.
However, the daughter repeatedly complained online that her father only provided her with 11,000 yuan (approximately $1,500) per month — which she deemed insufficient.
Leaked messages between the two show the father urging her to be responsible with money: “I’m 51 now. I can’t support you forever. You need to learn to be independent,” he wrote.
Rather than understanding his concern, she screenshotted the conversation, publicly labeled him as “stingy” and “hypocritical,” and uploaded it alongside his photo, calling on others to insult him.
She then escalated matters by promising to share her own explicit images as a “prize” for those who joined her campaign.
Internet Backlash and Disturbing Past
The online community in China quickly erupted in outrage. Many users uncovered her past scandals, including an incident where she allegedly jumped from a quarantine vehicle during the COVID-19 outbreak in Australia despite having a fever.
Additionally, forum posts linked to her anonymous accounts revealed that she had previously sought financial “sponsors” by offering nude images or gifts in return. During quarantine in China, she also complained about “cold bath water” and “meals without meat”, reinforcing her reputation as entitled and disconnected from reality.
Public sentiment overwhelmingly sympathized with her father.
“His messages were filled with love and exhaustion. You can feel the pain,” one user commented. Another added, “With a daughter like that, he must’ve committed great sins in a past life.”
The scandal has ignited national discourse on generational entitlement, gratitude, and moral decay. While her father, a man in his 50s, worked tirelessly to support her dreams, his efforts were publicly shamed and twisted into a social media spectacle.
