On September 29, Ryu Da In’s agency Alien Company confirmed to Hankyung.com, “Ryu Da In has received an offer to star in SBS’s new drama Awakening and is currently reviewing it.”
Awakening is an occult-themed series set at a prestigious high school in Daechi-dong, where a student who takes stimulants to boost her grades suddenly gains the ability to hear the voices of the dead. The drama will be directed by Oh Joon Hyuk, known for SBS’s The Escape of the Seven: Resurrection. Actors Lee Joon Hyuk and Oh Ye Joo have already been announced as part of the cast, raising anticipation.
Ryu Da In made her debut in JTBC’s 18 Again (2020) and has since gained attention through projects such as tvN’s Crash Course in Romance and TVING’s Pyramid Game. She also drew media spotlight for her public relationship with actor Lee Chae Min, who recently starred in tvN’s weekend drama Bon Appétit, Your Majesty, achieving impressive nationwide ratings of 17.1% (Nielsen Korea).
