Veteran actress Kim Mi-kyung opened up about her enduring affection for actresses who have played her on-screen daughters, sharing heartwarming stories during her appearance on MBC’s ‘Radio Star’ on September 24. The episode was a special “K-Mom” edition.

When asked if she had any favorite on-screen daughters, Kim Mi-kyung replied, “There are friends who still keep in touch after filming. I’ve talked to Lim Soo-hyang a few times, but the ones I’m really close to, like actual mother and daughter, are Jang Na-ra and Kim Tae-hee.”

Kim Mi-kyung acted as the mother of Jang Na-ra in Go Back Couple and of Kim Tae-hee in Hi Bye, Mama!. She explained, “The stories in those dramas were so deep and emotional that our bond grew even stronger. I know it must have been difficult for them to approach a senior actress with such an age difference, but they are truly lovely.”

Adding humor, Kim Mi-kyung said, “Some of the actresses come to my house uninvited. Even when I’m not home, they come over and have meals with my daughter.”

She also shared her long-standing bond with Park Min-young, having played mother and daughter in five different dramas. She proudly recalled, “On the fifth project, Park Min-young texted me saying, ‘Mom, maybe we’re destined to be together.’”

Reflecting on the loss of her own mother last year, Kim Mi-kyung said, “I didn’t send out notices about the passing, but so many people came to offer their condolences after the news appeared. Most of my drama daughters came as well, which was a huge comfort.”

Co-star Lim Soo-hyang was surprised when mentioned, saying, “I really didn’t know.”

Kim Mi-kyung reassured her warmly, “Soo-hyang couldn’t come simply because she didn’t receive the notice.”

Kim Mi-kyung and Lim Soo-hyang previously played mother and daughter in the 2020 drama When I Was The Most Beautiful. Their close relationship, along with her heartfelt stories about other actresses, highlights the genuine bonds formed on and off screen.
