According to HYBE (Chairman Bang Si-hyuk) on September 23, HYBE India was formally registered in Mumbai this month. Known as a hub for Bollywood cinema, contemporary art, and performing arts, Mumbai has become a strategic base for leading global entertainment and music companies.

HYBE India’s mission statement is clear: “Where voices of India become global stories.” The subsidiary aims to discover and nurture Indian talent, connecting artists shaped by local culture and creativity with audiences worldwide.

To achieve this, HYBE India plans to conduct local auditions, establish a training system tailored to the Indian market, and support HYBE Music Group artists in expanding their activities within the country.

India, home to 1.46 billion people, represents the world’s largest population and one of its most promising music markets. The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) reports that India has 185 million music streaming users, the second-largest market globally after the United States.

K-pop’s popularity in India is also soaring. A study by the Korean Foundation for International Cultural Exchange revealed that K-pop music streaming in India increased by 362% between 2018 and 2023, fueled by wider internet access, smartphone adoption, and improved streaming platforms.

The establishment of HYBE India aligns with HYBE’s “Multi-home, Multi-genre” strategy, spearheaded by Chairman Bang Si-hyuk. This initiative focuses on localizing the K-pop production system to discover and develop world-class talent rooted in regional cultures.

HYBE India will leverage the company’s full 360-degree capabilities—from artist discovery and training to album production, management, marketing, and concert planning—to connect Indian talent with both domestic and global markets.
