On the morning of September 22 in Jongno-gu, Seoul, Kim Go-eun sat down for an interview with iMBC Entertainment about the Netflix series You and Everything Else.
The drama tells the lifelong story of two friends—Eun-jung (Kim Go-eun) and Sang-yeon (Park Ji-hyun)—who at every moment admire, envy, resent, and love each other, their lives intertwined over decades.
Kim Go-eun plays Eun-jung, a woman who grew up poor but is bright, confident, and sincere, drawing affection wherever she goes. Her estranged best friend Sang-yeon, after being diagnosed with a terminal illness, asks Eun-jung to accompany her on a journey toward assisted death.

In the series, Sang-yeon, facing the end of her life, tries to gift Eun-jung a building in Seongsu-dong worth ₩13 billion, with rental income of ₩40 million per month. However, Eun-jung firmly rejects the offer, sparking anger from Sang-yeon instead.
This scene spread widely as short clips on YouTube and other platforms, drawing humorous comments from viewers who said it was unrealistic and only possible in a drama. Responding to this, Kim Go-eun joked, “The taxes would be enormous—how would she pay them?”
She added, “Accepting the building might have been more unrealistic. Wouldn’t it make sense for Sang-yeon, as a producer, to donate it to the film industry instead?”

Kim Go-eun also praised her co-star Park Ji-hyun, with whom she shared the most scenes: “I’ve always admired Park Ji-hyun as an actress. She was truly amazing. When I first joined You and Everything Else, I thought the role of Sang-yeon was so important—such a wide emotional spectrum, a deep narrative, and a character spanning from her 20s to 40s. I wondered who could handle that, and Park Ji-hyun pulled it off beautifully.”
You and Everything Else was released on Netflix on September 12.
