According to Page Six and The Sun, Lisa Marie Presley’s mother disclosed shocking details in her memoir Softly, As I Leave You: Life After Elvis about her daughter’s marriage to Jackson. She claimed she was “horrified” by what she witnessed, alleging that Jackson’s childlike innocence was nothing more than a carefully constructed mask.
She accused Jackson of being manipulative, noting, “He wasn’t marrying my daughter, he was marrying into the Presley dynasty.” Despite child abuse allegations at the time, Lisa Marie reportedly believed in Jackson’s innocence. However, he often chose to spend time with children rather than adults during family gatherings.
The memoir further reveals that while Jackson expressed a desire to have children with Lisa Marie, questions lingered about the physical intimacy in their marriage. Presley’s mother recalled pleading with her daughter to delay starting a family. When Lisa Marie eventually filed for divorce, she described hearing “a sigh of relief from Elvis.”
Jackson, who had been accused in 1993 of molesting a 13-year-old boy, settled with the family for $15.3 million. Prosecutors, however, admitted after an 18-month investigation that there was insufficient evidence to prove guilt. The following year, in 1994, Jackson married Lisa Marie Presley. While many speculated it was a move to deflect scandal, Lisa Marie herself insisted that their relationship became physical and that they were genuinely in love. The couple divorced in 1996.
