At the press conference held on September 17 at the Busan Cinema Center in Haeundae, following the screening of the 30th Busan International Film Festival’s opening film No Other Choice (directed by Park Chan-wook), Son Ye Jin remarked, “It’s been seven years since I last appeared in a film.”

Reflecting on the challenges faced by the movie industry, she admitted, “The reality of cinema has gotten very difficult. I often feel anxious, wondering how often and how long I will be able to continue acting in films as an actress.”

Speaking with affection for her comeback project, she said, “Returning to the big screen after seven years is meaningful. But what matters most is the future. That’s why I sincerely hope directors like Park Chan-wook will continue to create more works.”

She added, “I want to do my very best in my place to help lead things in a better direction.”

Meanwhile, No Other Choice, set to premiere on September 24, tells the story of office worker Mansoo (Lee Byung-hun), who suddenly loses his job despite feeling that he has “achieved everything” in life. As he struggles to protect his wife, two children, and the home he worked hard to secure, he prepares for his own battle to find reemployment. The film was chosen as the opening feature of this year’s Busan International Film Festival.
