On the September 14 broadcast of SBS’s Running Man, Kim Jong Kook spoke honestly with the cast after mentioning his marriage for the first time. Yoo Jae Suk expressed concern that while his parents may be happy, they could also feel bittersweet emotions. Kim acknowledged that possibility, while Haha, drawing from his own experience, reassured him that marriage would bring fun.
Still, Kim Jong Kook remained firm, stating, “It’ll be the same. Nothing much will change in life before or after marriage.” When Haha teased that he expected Kim to marry someone who loves working out, Kim denied it.

Song Ji Hyo then asked, “Does your wife understand your workout habits?” Kim replied confidently, “She has to. That’s what I make a living from.”
Haha compared the situation to his own marriage, revealing that while he loves drinking, his wife Byul doesn’t drink at all. Kim, however, took a positive view, saying, “It’s better if one person does and the other doesn’t,” showing his perspective on balancing differences within marriage.

Kim Jong Kook married on September 5 in a private ceremony, keeping his wife’s identity completely undisclosed. He clarified that rumors about her being 20 years younger, a cosmetics CEO, or a U.S. businesswoman were all false.
On SBS’s My Little Old Boy the same day, he also admitted to recent conflicts with his wife, revealing, “We’ve been fighting a lot because of my workouts. The only thing we argue about is exercise. I only allow myself one day off, and because I end up working, sleeping, and exercising, our dating time gets cut short.”
