On September 11, a video titled The Day the Tiger Gets Married was uploaded to Kim Jong Kook’s personal channel. In the clip, he shared his wedding news with close friends including Yoo Jae Suk and Seo Jang Hoon, members of SBS’s Running Man and My Little Old Boy. His announcement, made just two weeks before the ceremony, left his friends stunned and skeptical.
Addressing speculation, Kim said: “At my age, if it were a premarital pregnancy, it would actually be a blessing. But it’s not true.” He went on, “I’m getting married because I’m in love. She’s perfect in every way. My wife is younger than me, she’s Korean, and she has nothing to do with LA. We did face a small crisis over the wedding envelopes, but we overcame it.”
He also explained why his mother recently stepped away from My Little Old Boy: “My wife wanted things to stay quiet, and I also wanted to keep it private. I even considered only revealing the marriage after the ceremony. We only invited very close friends and family, because that felt right.”
Kim Jong Kook wed his non-celebrity partner on September 5 in Seoul. The secretive wedding resembled a “007 mission,” with guests receiving location details only the day before.
He added: “I want to sincerely thank everyone who congratulated us. I’ll live diligently and responsibly. I’m also sorry for not sharing more details as we tried to keep the wedding quiet. For anyone who felt fatigued by the news surrounding me, I apologize.”
