A new wave of female soloists is set to redefine the K-pop stage. From TWICE’s Chaeyoung to After School’s Nana and WJSN’s Dayoung, these artists—long celebrated in groups—are now stepping forward to express their own voices and artistry.
On September 12, Chaeyoung will release her first full-length album LIL FANTASY Vol.1, becoming TWICE’s fourth member to go solo after Nayeon, Jihyo, and Tzuyu.
Actively involved in songwriting, composing, and even visual direction, Chaeyoung infused her signature creativity into the project. The album design incorporates hand-drawn sketches by Chaeyoung, blending sound and visuals for a more immersive fan experience.
Her title track SHOOT (Firecracker), with its catchy and kitsch melody line, highlights her bold ambitions as a soloist. Ahead of release, Chaeyoung will host a pre-listening event with fans in Seoul on September 11.
On September 11, WJSN’s Dayoung will perform her new track Body on Mnet’s M Countdown, marking her solo debut.
Her first digital single gonna love me, right?, released on September 9, has been nearly three years in the making. Dayoung said:
“For two years, I honed my skills so I wouldn’t miss the chance when it came. The last year, I poured all my energy into making it happen.”

To embody her new image, Dayoung underwent a strict fitness and diet regimen, losing 12kg ahead of her debut.
On September 14, Nana will release her first solo album on her birthday, celebrating her 16th anniversary since debut. Though she has been more active as an actress in recent years, Nana is returning to her roots in music with a deeply personal project.
The album features tracks that reflect her emotional journey and anticipation for new beginnings. She also participated in the music videos for all the tracks, ensuring a strong personal imprint.
A teaser released on September 10 showcased a dark, moody aesthetic, leaving fans eager for the full release.
With their individual artistry at the forefront, Nana, Chaeyoung, and Dayoung are set to carve unique paths as soloists. Each brings years of group experience, but their solo debuts promise fresh perspectives, diverse sounds, and a more intimate glimpse into their creative worlds.
