On September 8, Channel A’s Detectives’ Trade Secrets featured two jaw-dropping investigations. In the segment “Detective 24 Hours,” an aunt searching for her long-lost nephews/nieces uncovered a heartbreaking truth: the children, once placed in an orphanage due to domestic conflict and abuse, were later taken in by their grandfather but have been back in institutional care since 2017 after their grandmother suffered a stroke and dementia. When the aunt finally located them, the children refused to meet her, leaving the studio in sorrow.
But the most shocking case unfolded in “Case Files,” with comedian Kim Ji-yoo joining the discussion. A famous sports announcer, preparing to marry a prestigious doctor she met through an elite matchmaking service, received a disturbing direct message: her fiancé was allegedly a VIP at a high-end Gangnam nightclub, complete with a mistress.

After investigation, detectives revealed that the nightclub VIP was not the fiancé but his father. Still, the bride-to-be was horrified, questioning whether “cheating runs in the family.” Suspicion deepened when she began to wonder if her fiancé’s much younger brother—born 20 years later—was truly his sibling.
DNA testing brought explosive revelations. Both the fiancé and his father were ruled out as the biological father of the younger son. However, further paternal lineage testing confirmed a match with the family line. The truth emerged: the boy was the product of the mother-in-law’s long-hidden affair with her husband’s younger brother.
The revelation destroyed the engagement, ending in a broken wedding. The shocking story, more dramatic than fiction, left the program’s cast exclaiming it was worthy of being submitted to a film festival.
