On September 5, the 49-year-old star wed at a hotel in Gangnam, Seoul. Known as a member of Turbo, the powerhouse of SBS’s Running Man, and “stingy Jong-kook” of My Little Old Boy, Kim has built decades of fame in entertainment. Unsurprisingly, news of his marriage became a hot topic the moment it was announced.
Yet almost every detail was kept under wraps from the bride’s identity to the exact time and venue. Even his Running Man castmates, who have spent 15 years by his side, only learned of the wedding shortly before the ceremony. Fellow member Ji Suk-jin jokingly remarked, “With secrecy like this, you should have been an independence activist.”

Kim’s agency confirmed the marriage but maintained, “The ceremony will be small and private with only family and close acquaintances. We cannot disclose information about the bride.”
Security surrounding the event was reportedly intense. According to industry insiders, very few people received invitations, and unlike other celebrity weddings, there were no behind-the-scenes updates, SNS posts, or entertainment program footage. The sole exception was longtime friend Yoo Jae-suk, who served as MC for the wedding.
Adding to the intrigue, Kim Jong-kook will not be leaving for a honeymoon immediately, as earlier reported. Fans are now eagerly waiting to see if his new role as a married man will be reflected in his YouTube channel or his ongoing variety shows.
