The account had gained attention for offering rare glimpses into Son Ye-jin’s private life. Opened in June, it featured childcare posts, personal photos, and playful content, including its name a humorous twist on her surname “Son” (meaning “hand”) turned into “foot.”
The account’s closure coincides with Son Ye-jin being embroiled in a controversy over alleged “child actor neglect.” During the press conference for her new film No Other Choice held on August 19, co-star Lee Byung-hun joked that Son had ignored questions from child actress Choi So-yul during filming, leaving him to respond on his own.
While the remark was delivered with laughter, snippets taken out of context quickly went viral, prompting a wave of criticism accusing Son Ye-jin of being cold and unkind to the young actress.
However, the child’s mother soon clarified that the story had been misunderstood. “It was just a funny episode told lightheartedly,” she explained. “The fact is, she [Son Ye-jin] was very kind.” Adding weight to this, an older post from December revealed that Son had gifted the child actress a highly sought-after Christmas toy, further demonstrating her caring nature.
Although no official reason has been given for the account deletion, many suspect the timing is no coincidence. Critics argue that the move may have been influenced by public pressure, as the actress attempts to avoid further misinterpretation or scrutiny. Others believe it may simply be a personal decision to step away from the spotlight temporarily.
