Netflix has unveiled the first set of character still cuts for its highly anticipated film Good News, stirring excitement ahead of its worldwide release. The movie has already been invited to the Special Presentations section at the 50th Toronto International Film Festival, earning early praise for its cinematic quality and directorial finesse.
Set in the 1970s, Good News follows a secret mission led by a committed team intent on safely bringing down a hijacked aircraft, employing whatever tactics the situation demands.

The newly released still cuts showcase a compelling lineup: Sul Kyung-gu plays a shadowy figure known only as “Nobody,” who secretly solves national crises; Hong Kyung appears as elite air force lieutenant Seo Go-myung, unexpectedly thrust into the center of the mission; and Ryoo Seung-bum embodies Park Sang-hyun, the director of Korean intelligence who orders the plane’s forced landing. Additional still cuts highlight Yamada Takayuki as Shinichi, a Japanese vice minister forced to clean up the chaos, and Sho Kasamatsu as Denji, the leader of a Japanese communist militant group attempting to divert the plane to Pyongyang.

The ensemble is drawing strong buzz thanks to its blend of powerhouse Korean and Japanese actors. Sul Kyung-gu, Hong Kyung, and Ryoo Seung-bum bring depth and intensity, while Yamada Takayuki and Sho Kasamatsu — already familiar to Korean audiences from series like Tokyo Vice and Gannibal — add global appeal and fresh energy.
Directed by Byun Sung-hyun, known for his unique visual style and genre-spanning work, Good News promises gripping tension, unpredictable twists, and explosive performances. The film is slated for release exclusively on Netflix on October 17, 2025.
