Only 48 contestants will continue their journey on Mnet’s “Boys II Planet“, and Lee Sang-won has officially claimed the top spot, as chosen by global Star Creators.

In the August 14 broadcast of “Boys II Planet“, the results of the first survivor announcement and the TOP 8 rankings were revealed. The first and second rounds of global voting gathered a staggering 62,967,080 votes from 217 countries and regions, surpassing season 1’s record. Viewer engagement was also remarkable, with domestic streaming platform TVING reaching a 76% real-time viewing share and topping search rankings, while global K-pop platform Mnet Plus recorded over a 55% increase in streams compared to the previous week. The show also trended on X (formerly Twitter) worldwide and ranked in major countries including Korea, Japan, Indonesia, the Philippines, Peru and Australia, as well as trending on China’s Weibo.

Lee Sang-won held onto first place from week one, securing his position with nearly 12.5 million votes in the first announcement. He ranked first in 170 countries and regions, including Korea, Japan, the U.S., France, the U.K., Germany and Canada, proving his immense global support. The remaining TOP 8 included Zhou Anxin (2nd), Chung Sang-hyeon (3rd), Kim Jun-seo (4th), Lee Leo (5th), Chuei Li-yu (6th), Yoo Kang-min (7th) and Masato (8th).

Benefits from the first mission significantly impacted rankings, resulting in surprising jumps and reversals. Jun Lee Jeong, leader of “plot twist” Team 2, climbed 11 spots to 23rd after receiving a 300,000-point benefit. He Xinlong, backed by fans for his “Umbrella” storyline with Na Yun-seo, rose six places to 9th. Han Harry June landed in 47th, while Yoon Min survived as the 48th and final contestant through a live vote among the bottom four.

The third round of global voting, which will determine the 24 semi-finalists, has begun and runs until August 29 at 10 AM KST via Mnet Plus. The lowest-ranking survivor will be revealed in the second survivor announcement livestream at 3 PM the same day.

Episode 6, airing August 21 at 9:20 PM, will feature the tense “Grade Takeover Position Battle” and introduce the “Semi-final New Song Matching Mission” with four new tracks. Star Creators have until August 16 at 10 AM to vote on which contestants they believe best match the new songs.
