The 11-minute, 12-second film, unveiled on August 14, is part of KB Kookmin Bank’s “Korea Has Lived” campaign. In it, Kim Nam-gil joins Professor Seo Kyung-duk of Sungshin Women’s University to guide viewers through hidden independence movement landmarks scattered across Seoul. The Korean-language version was released first, with an English version set to be uploaded next week.

The video introduces historically significant sites such as Bukchon Village preserved by master builder Jeong Se-gwon—the Dilkusha House once inhabited by Albert Taylor, and the Yun Dong-ju Literature Museum dedicated to the beloved poet. Professor Seo expressed his desire “to promote lesser-known independence movement heritage sites in the heart of the city”.

Kim Nam-gil encouraged both domestic and international audiences to watch the video and, if possible, “personally visit these historic places”.

Professor Seo has also been active internationally, collaborating with actress Song Hye-kyo for 14 years to donate Korean-language guidebooks, Hangul signboards and relief artworks of independence activists to 38 overseas heritage sites. This year, in honor of the 80th anniversary of Korea’s liberation, the duo distributed 10,000 Korean history guidebooks across Saipan and Tinian Island.
