Actor Lee Ji-hoon has publicly addressed reports of domestic violence, clarifying that the incident was a verbal argument between him and his wife — not an assault.
According to a close acquaintance speaking to Dispatch on August 14, the couple had a heated quarrel that involved “light physical contact,” but police determined there was no serious offense.
The incident occurred on July 24 at the couple’s apartment in Bucheon, Gyeonggi Province. Lee Ji-hoon reportedly attempted to leave during the dispute, and in the process of his wife trying to stop him, a minor scuffle ensued. Police responded to a call and questioned Lee Ji-hoon on suspicion of assault. However, his wife stated she did not wish to press charges.

Since assault is a crime that requires the victim’s intent to prosecute, the lack of a complaint means the case cannot proceed to criminal trial. Police have classified it as a domestic protection matter, which could either be dismissed or result in protective measures such as community service or a restraining order if referred to court.
Lee Ji-hoon’s agency, Y1 Entertainment, confirmed he was the “40-year-old actor” mentioned in initial reports and issued an apology for causing public concern. They emphasized that the matter is being resolved and both Lee Ji-hoon and his wife are reflecting on the incident.
Lee Ji-hoon debuted in 2003 as a KBS public recruitment talent and has appeared in numerous films (Chronicle of a Blood Merchant, The Merciless, I Can Speak, The Round Up 3 & 4) and TV dramas (Delightful Girl, Chun-Hyang, Hospital Playlist 2, Korea–Khitan War, A Killer Paradox).
