Actor Yoon Jae-chan, once known for placing 55th in the 2017 season of Mnet’s Produce 101, is making waves with his performance in SBS’s Friday-Saturday drama The Winning Try.
The sports comedy drama follows eccentric coach Joo Ga-ram (Yoon Kye-sang) and the perennial underdog rugby team at Hanyang High as they chase a national championship. Yoon Jae-chan plays Do Hyung-shik, a hot-tempered yet fiercely loyal team member whose unpredictable energy keeps both teammates and viewers on their toes.
From episodes 3 to 6, aired August 1–9, Yoon Jae-chan’s character showed a mix of fiery passion and deep trust in his captain Yoon Sung-joon (Kim Yo-han). Whether rallying the team during crises, supporting the recruitment of new member Moon Woong (Kim Dan), or calling out a teammate for nearly quitting, Do Hyung-shik emerged as the squad’s morale booster.

One standout moment came when he warmly welcomed a returning teammate who had initially left to prepare for police exams, showing his ability to balance tough love with camaraderie. Even after a shoulder injury from playful antics, Do Hyung-shik demonstrated genuine remorse and a heartfelt bond with coach Joo Ga-ram.
Since his 2022 acting debut, Yoon Jae-chan has built a solid portfolio, appearing in Twinkling Watermelon (tvN), Seoul Busters (Disney+), Doubt (MBC), and Love Your Enemy (tvN), earning praise for his nuanced performances.
The Winning Try airs every Friday and Saturday at 9:50 p.m. on SBS.
