Once one of Chinese entertainment’s most celebrated “golden spoon” heiresses, Ady An has all but vanished from public life following the dramatic downfall of her billionaire husband and the collapse of her own career.
The Heaven Sword and Dragon Saber star, born into a life of privilege as the daughter of a wealthy Taiwanese businessman and granddaughter of both a senior government official and a Taipei real estate mogul, was long adored by fans as “Princess An.”
A Fairytale Marriage Turned Nightmare
In March 2017, after 810 days of dating, Ady married Levo Chen, who proposed with a 10.75-carat diamond ring as part of an estimated ¥20 million CNY in engagement and wedding gifts. Their lavish three-day wedding in Hawaii seemed to herald a charmed future.
The opulence continued — Chen gifted her four luxury villas worth 550 million CNY after the birth of their son, and a 10-carat diamond ring plus shares worth 1.344 billion CNY when their daughter was born.
But on January 29, 2022 — Lunar New Year’s Eve — Chen was arrested. Authorities accused his Tak Chun Group of running illegal online gambling operations, laundering money, and operating as an organized crime syndicate, involving $1.9 billion USD in illicit transactions.
In April 2023, he was sentenced to 14 years in prison on 83 counts, later reduced to 13 years after appeal, along with a $90 million USD fine.
From Red Carpets to Obscurity
The scandal brought Ady’s life to a halt. Facing rumors of complicity, she deleted family photos, stopped posting online, and retreated from the public eye. In 2023, she reportedly cut all contact with Chen, returned to Taiwan with their children, and sought divorce to avoid inheriting his ¥1.6 billion CNY (~223 million USD) debt. She has not visited him in prison.
Her financial situation worsened in 2025, when her attempt to withdraw HK$50 million from a joint account was denied due to lack of legal authority, and she lost a subsequent lawsuit against the bank.
Industry insiders say she is now professionally blacklisted, without in-law support, and under mounting pressure from creditors. Once a fixture of luxury events, she now dresses simply, does household chores herself, and covers her face in public to avoid recognition. Paparazzi note she often hides behind friends or turns away from cameras.
