In a YouTube video uploaded on August 11 to her channel Yeon Ye-rim, the comedian sat down with fellow entertainer Heo Mi-jin to discuss their experiences with cosmetic enhancements.

Yeon openly listed her surgeries: eight eye procedures, three nose surgeries, jawline contouring, and breast augmentation. She added that she had orthodontic work and teeth whitening but “never touched” her lips.

When asked why she had so many eye surgeries, Yeon recalled that it began after her college entrance exams in high school. “I had been using double eyelid glue for so long that my eyelid crease drooped, and my eyes started to close,” she explained. Her first procedure, however, was a disappointment:

“My friends asked, ‘Did you get double eyelid surgery?’ That’s when I knew it was a failure. Kids don’t lie — my eyes looked thick, and my nose ended up looking like an avatar’s. I completely messed up the first step.”

From that botched operation came a string of corrective procedures, totaling eight surgeries just for her eyes. Yeon also revealed for the first time that she had jawline contouring surgery, prompting Heo Mi-jin to joke, “Your face is almost at ChatGPT level now,” earning a wry smile from Yeon.

When asked which surgeries brought her the most satisfaction, she named breast augmentation and jawline contouring:

“Breast augmentation is one of the surgeries women are most satisfied with. You can wear tight-fitting clothes. With contouring, it doesn’t look like plastic surgery — people just ask if I’ve lost weight.”

Yeon was equally frank about her motivations, admitting they stemmed from deep-seated insecurity:

“It was because of my inferiority complex about my looks. I wanted to fill that void, but even now I don’t think I look pretty. I think mental healing should come before plastic surgery.”

She closed the conversation with heartfelt advice to viewers: “Don’t get plastic surgery carelessly. Just love yourself.” Yeon’s rare honesty about her experiences has sparked discussions online, with many praising her for shedding light on the emotional side of cosmetic surgery in Korea’s beauty-driven entertainment industry.
