Chinese social media is ablaze after Zheng Shuang, the once-popular actress banned from the entertainment industry, hinted at a possible comeback.
Ahead of her birthday, her studio account posted a nostalgic video reviewing her acting career, accompanied by a cryptic message about “revival.” Fans and critics alike speculate she may be seeking opportunities to return to China’s showbiz scene.
Since early 2025, Zheng Shuang has been living in the U.S. and regularly sharing glimpses of a lavish lifestyle — a stark contrast to her previous financial struggles. She now showcases a sprawling mansion, luxury cars, and high-end shopping sprees. Recently, she even funded scholarships for students and spent 300,000 RMB on self-publishing her autobiography.
According to multiple sources, her comfortable life is reportedly supported by Ye Dianwei, a wealthy businessman wanted in China for major economic crimes. Zheng Shuang allegedly began her relationship with Ye Dianwei in 2024, after being hounded by creditors and unable to sell her 150 million RMB villa despite slashing the price by half. She reportedly agreed to live with Ye Dianwei — and several of his other “sugar babies” — in exchange for financial support and protection from debt collectors.
In March, TikToker Ye Zhengyuan, Ye Dianwei’s son, publicly accused Zheng Shuang of being his father’s mistress and living off embezzled funds. He claimed his mother was devastated by the betrayal and revealed Ye Dianwei maintained relationships with at least 10 women. Zheng Shuang denied being a “homewrecker” or pregnant with Ye Dianwei’s child, but her refusal to address the rumors in detail only fueled speculation.
Zheng Shuang’s career imploded in early 2021 after ex-boyfriend Zhang Heng accused her of hiring a surrogate and attempting to abandon the unborn twins, followed by tax evasion charges. She was swiftly blacklisted by Chinese authorities and moved to the U.S., where Zhang Heng now has custody of their children.
Currently, Zheng Shuang is said to be over 200 million RMB in debt. Her rumored alliance with Ye Dianwei has sparked fierce debate online, with many condemning her alleged moral compromises while others point to her attempts to rebuild her life. Whether her hints at a comeback will materialize — and whether the public will accept her — remains an open question.
