According to the Korean Film Council’s integrated ticketing data on August 9, My Daughter Is a Zombie attracted 161,305 viewers on August 8 alone, topping the box office yet again. Since its release on July 30, the film has held the top position for ten straight days, accumulating a total audience of 2,672,223. With the weekend audience surge, surpassing 3 million viewers could be within reach as early as this weekend.
The movie tells a comedic drama about a father who undergoes secret training to protect his daughter, the last remaining zombie in the world. Directed by Pil Gam-sung, known for his intense directing in Hostage, the film boasts a stellar ensemble cast including Jo Jung-suk, Lee Jung-eun, Yoon Kyung-ho, and Cho Yeo-jeong.
My Daughter Is a Zombie emerged as this year’s fastest film to reach 1 million viewers within its first four days and quickly surpassed 2 million.
