Broadcaster Kim Byung-man has legally ended his parental relationship with his ex-wife’s daughter, finalizing a long-standing legal dispute ahead of his upcoming remarriage.

On August 8, the Seoul Family Court ruled in favor of Kim in a lawsuit to revoke the adoption of B, the daughter of his former wife A from a previous marriage. Kim had adopted B as his child in 2010 after marrying A.

A representative from Kim’s agency, Sky Turtle, told SPOTV News: “The court acknowledged acts of immorality stemming from false accusations related to past assault claims, and granted the disownment.

Kim and A separated in 2019 and finalized their divorce in 2023 after a lengthy legal battle that reached the Supreme Court. Although the marriage ended, Kim remained B’s legal father until this ruling.

During divorce proceedings, A accused Kim of assault, but prosecutors dismissed the case. Later, B changed her statement—having previously described Kim as a “good father”—to claim she witnessed the alleged assault. This reversal was a key factor in the court’s latest decision.

Kim is set to remarry on September 20. He has acknowledged that his fiancée has two children, and plans to introduce his new family through an appearance on TV Chosun’s Chosun’s Real Romantic later this month.
