The Korean entertainment industry is mourning alongside comedian Lee Soo-geun, who recently lost his father to illness at the age of 81. A wave of condolences has followed, with many celebrity friends paying quiet tribute at the funeral.
The wake was held at Room 35, 3rd floor of Asan Medical Center Funeral Hall in Songpa-gu, Seoul. Familiar names such as Kim Hee-sun, Yoo Hae-jin, Park Myung-soo, and Kim Gun-mo all known for their long-standing friendship with Lee were seen offering their condolences in person or sending floral arrangements to express their sympathies.

Mourners chose to remain discreet, refraining from media comments as they said their silent farewells to the late Mr. Lee. The venue was filled with floral tributes from fellow entertainers and broadcast colleagues, a testament to the deep respect held for both Lee Soo-geun and his father.
Lee Soo-geun’s agency, Big Planet Made, released an official statement, announcing, “Lee Soo-geun’s father passed away on August 5 due to chronic illness. The funeral will be held quietly with only close family and relatives in attendance.”
The funeral service is scheduled for August 7 at 8:40 AM, and the burial will take place at Yeongsaengwon in Seongnam, followed by a transfer to the National Cemetery.
While the room was filled with silence, the emotions were profound. Known for his warm personality and devotion to family, Lee Soo-geun has spoken fondly of his loved ones on numerous broadcasts. His colleagues and fans alike are now offering support, empathizing with the pain behind his ever-smiling persona.
