A major controversy has erupted surrounding an AI-manipulated version of the “KPop Demon Hunters” soundtrack, sparking widespread concern over the misuse of artificial intelligence in altering youth-targeted content. The edited video featured a vulgar, sexually explicit reinterpretation of the OST “Soda Pop”, and circulated widely on YouTube and online forums using hashtags tied to “KPop Demon Hunters”.
What alarmed many was the accessibility of the content to minors. Due to the popular hashtags and lack of content warnings, the AI-generated version could easily appear in searches by younger fans of the franchise. The manipulated version not only distorted the original intention of the track but introduced inappropriate and harmful messaging to a young audience.

On August 1st, the project’s art director took to social media to publicly address the situation, expressing dismay over the exploitation of children’s content in such a disturbing way. “I’m very disappointed by those choosing to consume children’s content in such a way,” the post read. “I have forwarded all the links and materials you sent me to Netflix.”
The director confirmed that the offensive video has been set to private and is no longer publicly accessible. However, they urged continued vigilance, asking the public to report any reuploads: “If you come across reuploads or copies of the video, please let me know. I will forward them again to Netflix’s legal team.”
In the wake of the backlash, the original uploader has deleted their YouTube account. Despite this, another user briefly reuploaded the AI-altered clip before issuing an apology and removing it.

The incident has ignited renewed debate over the ethics and regulation of AI-generated content—particularly its misuse in distorting family-friendly or child-focused media. Critics argue that the spread of such altered content underscores the urgent need for tighter platform moderation and legal safeguards, especially as AI tools become more accessible and powerful.
As “KPop Demon Hunters” continues to build its global fanbase, this controversy has served as a stark reminder of the darker side of AI creativity—and the critical responsibility of creators, platforms and communities in protecting artistic integrity and audience safety.
