Lee Seung-gi will appear on the August 1 episode of Mnet’s L1ve Wire. On the show, he reunites with Jeon In-kwon of Deulgukhwa after nearly eight years, having first met him on a variety program in 2017.
Recently, Lee Seung-gi appeared on KBS2’s Immortal Songs (aired June 28), participating in a competitive singing round for the first time in his 21-year career. His continued appearances on music-centered shows like L1ve Wire signal his renewed commitment to his identity as a musician.

Lee Seung-gi shared an update on his career, saying, “Lately, I’ve been reducing my variety show appearances and focusing on music.” He added, “I’ve been taking time to reflect on myself. When I asked myself what excites me the most, it always comes back to music and singing. I wasn’t born with natural talent, so I’ve been taking vocal lessons and practicing consistently.”
Now in his 21st year since debuting with the album The Dream of a Moth in 2004, Lee Seung-gi expressed a strong desire to leave behind a song that will be remembered by many.

Known for hits like “Because You’re My Woman,” “Will You Marry Me,” and “Return,” Lee Seung-gi said, “My goal is to release a mega-hit song within five years—something that 90% of people can recognize within the first three seconds. If I could create such a song, I’d be incredibly happy.”
Having built a successful career across singing, acting, and variety shows, Lee Seung-gi married actress Lee Da-in (daughter of veteran actress Kyeon Mi-ri) in April 2023. The couple welcomed their first daughter in February of the following year.
However, their marriage became a turning point, as Lee Seung-gi was drawn into controversies surrounding his father-in-law, Lee Da-in’s adoptive father, who later became embroiled in a stock manipulation scandal. Lee Seung-gi publicly distanced himself from his in-laws last year, stating, “After marriage, my wife became independent from her family, and we established our own household.”

When his father-in-law was arrested in April on stock manipulation charges, Lee Seung-gi issued a statement expressing deep regret: “I deeply reflect on my previous remarks made without fully reviewing the issues surrounding my father-in-law.”
He also declared, “This incident has irreparably damaged the trust within our families. After much deliberation, my wife and I have decided to sever ties with my in-laws.”
Following this announcement, Lee Seung-gi released a new song titled “Goodbye” in May and is set to continue his music career with appearances at major events like the 2025 Yeosu K-Mega Island Festival and the Megafield Music Festival 2025.
